When ground needs to be disturbed to complete the job, a Ground Disturbance Plan should be developed.
Companies configure the checklist of things that must be checked while completing a ground disturbance plan.
Employees will complete the checklist and other details including work description, tools and equipment required,
exact location on site and the first call ticket number and date.
Configuring for Ground Disturbance Plans company task list
R & T Electric Pro allows companies create checklist of what should be reviewed during ground disturbance plan, which are added automatically to ground disturbance plans when they are created.
Management, Office Staff and Safety Officers can edit how company ground disturbance check list in the Ground Disturbance checklist section when they edit the ground disturbance checklist. For more information about configuring your

1.Add Ground Disturbance Plan |
|
At the start of the day/shift, before work can commence, a Hazard Assessment must be created and
must be reviewed when a new worker comes to the job site or when a new hazard is identified due
to a change in scope of work or working conditions.
Steps
- From the Main Menu screen, tap the On Site Paperwork button.
- Then tap on the Ground Disturbance Plan button to open the Add Ground Disturbance Plan screen.
- Date: The date field will default to the current date and should not be modified.
However, if a Ground Disturbance Plan was completed on site and not entered into the application (due to internet
access issues, for example) or the Ground Disturbance Plant is being completed in advance (not
recommended, as analysis should be done on site and reviewed on site), the Date: field can be rolled back or advanced:
- Tap the Date field to open the Choose Date screen.
- Scroll the date wheel on the far left of the screen until the desired date is highlighted.
- Return to the Add Ground Disturbance Plan screen by either tapping Save in the top right corner to select the highlighted date or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Date: field unchanged.
- Tap the Job Site field to open the Choose Job Site screen.
Work orders are listed in descending order with the customer name in red text,
and the address in blue text.
Note: New job sites are not automatically added to the list when they are created, so it may be necessary to update the list click here to view information about updating for the desired job sites to be included in the list.
- Scroll the list of job site until the desired job site is displayed on the screen.
- Tap the desired job site to select it or tap Back in the top left corner to leave the Job Site field unchanged and return to the Add Ground Disturbance Plan screen.
- Return to the Add Ground Disturbance Plan screen by either tapping Save in the top right corner to select the highlighted work order or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Job Site field unchanged.
- Tap the + icon in the top right corner to add the Hazard Assessment.
- A pop-up message that reads Ground Disturbance Plan Added indicates that the Ground Disturbance Plan is ready for job, employee, and checklist information to be entered.

2.Look Up Open Ground Disturbance Plans |
|
Once a ground disturbance plan has been created, it can be accessed on the View Ground Disturbance Plan tab. From this tab field staff can:
- Edit the ground disturbance details
- Add/Edit Employees participation
- Edit Checklist
- Add/Edit Images
- Submitting and Closing out ground disturbance plans
Once in the Ground Disturbance Plan section
Steps
- Tap the second tab on the menu, the Ground Disturbance Plan view.
To Search Ground Disturbance Plans: Pull down on the list view, the search is defaulted to search by date enter the date in following
format YYYY-MM-DD. The other option for the Ground Disturbance Plan search by job site name. Enter your search
criteria and click the Search button.
- Scroll the list of Ground Disturbance Plans until the desired Ground Disturbance Plan is displayed on the screen.
- Tap on the Ground Disturbance Plan you would like to view. This loads the ground disturbance plan details.

3.Edit Ground Disturbance Plan Details |
|
The first step in completing a Ground Disturbance Plan is entering the details of the job itself - employee responsible for ensuring a safe
work site, scope of work, location, etc.
Once on the Ground Disturbance Plan you would like to Edit
Steps
- Report Start Date: The report start date field will display the date which the Ground Disturbance Plan was added and should not be modified.
However, if a Ground Disturbance Plan was completed on site and not entered into the application (due to internet
access issues, for example) or the Ground Disturbance Plant is being completed in advance (not
recommended, as analysis should be done on site and reviewed on site), the Date: field can be rolled back or advanced:
- Tap the Report Start Date field to open the Choose Date screen.

- Tap the Report End Date field to open the Choose Date screen.
- Scroll the date wheel on the far left of the screen until the desired date is highlighted.
- Return to the Edit Ground Disturbance Plan screen by either tapping Save in the top right corner to select the highlighted date or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Date field unchanged.
- Developed By: The developed by field initially displays the name of the person who added the Ground Disturbance Plan and should be updated to indicate the employee on site who is developed the plan.
- Tap the Developed By: field to open the Employees screen.
Employees are listed in the order they were added to the Ground Disturbance Plan.
- Tap the desired employee to select it or tap Back in the top left corner to leave the Developed By field
unchanged and return to the Edit Ground Disturbance Plan screen.
- Return to the Edit Ground Disturbance Plan screen by either tapping Save in the top
right corner to select the highlighted date or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Employee field unchanged.

- First Call: The First Call field should be set to Yes when first call or ground survey for buried objects has been called for.
- Tap Yes on the No|Yes selector to indicate that survey has be done, to determine if their are any buried obstructions.
NOTE: The First Call Date will only be visible if the First Call flag is set to yes.
- First Call Date: The report end date field will display the date which the Ground Disturbance Plan was finished.
- Tap the First Call Date field to open the Choose Date screen.
- Scroll the date wheel on the far left of the screen until the desired date is highlighted.
- Return to the Edit Ground Disturbance Plan screen by either tapping Save in the top right corner to select the highlighted date or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Date field unchanged.
- First Call Ticket Number: The First Call Ticket Number field allows users to enter the report number of the first call report. The character limit of this field is 50.
- Work Description: The Work Description field should be as specific as possible on what work will be completed and what issues exist. The character limit of this field is 350.
- Exact Location on Site: The Exact Location on Site field should be as specific as possible, as job sites may include tasks in a number of locations and the Ground Disturbance Plan needs to identify the
specific location(s) that were reviewed. The character limit of this field is 500.
- Tools to be Used: The Tools to be used field allows field staff to enter the tools and equipment required to complete the work. The character limit of this field is 500.
- Notes: The Notes field allows field staff to enter any information important to the job. The character limit of this field is 1000.
- Work Permit Required: The Work Permit Required field should be set to Yes if a work permit is required.
- Tap Yes on the No|Yes selector to indicate that a work permit is required.
- Tap Save in the top right corner to save any changes to the Hazard Assessment Details.
- A pop-up message that reads Hazard Assessment Details have been Saved indicates that the job information has been saved.

4.Add Employee to Ground Disturbance Plan |
|
Adding employees to the Ground Disturbance Plan is crucial to reporting accurately. In order to have an accurate picture of the job site, adding employees to
the Ground Disturbance Plan needed. Adding other field staff to the ground disturbance plan allows a group of workers to share the same ground disturbance plan.
Once a ground disturbance plan is submitted all employee's added to the ground disturbance plan will have access to the ground disturbance plan.
Here are the steps on how to do it:
Once on the Ground Disturbance Plan you would like to Edit
Steps
- Tap the Employees icon at the bottom of the screen to open the Employees screen.
- Tap the + icon in the top right corner to open the Employees list or tap Employees in the top left corner to return to the Employees screen.
Employees are listed in descending order of last name.
To Search Employees: Pull down on the list view, the search is defaulted to search by last name.
The other option for the Employee search is by first name. Enter your search
criteria and click the Search button.
- Scroll the list of employees until the desired employee is displayed on the screen.
- If the desired employee is in the list, tap the employee to add them to the Ground Disturbance Plan.
A pop-up message that reads Employee Added indicates that the employee is now listed on the Ground Disturbance Plan Employees screen.
- If the desired employee is not in the list, tap Add Outside Employee in the top left corner of the screen to open the New Employee screen.
- First Name: The First Name field should indicate the legal given name of the employee. The character limit of this field is 25.
- Last Name: The Last Name field should indicate the legal surname of the employee. The character limit of this field is 25.
- Email: The Email field should indicate the best (i.e., most often used for business purposes) e-mail address for the employee. The character limit of this field is 25.
- Phone Number: The Phone Number field should indicate the best (i.e., most often used for business purposes) telephone number (land line or cellular) for the employee. The character limit of this field is 13.
- Company: The Company field should indicate the name of the company for which the employee works. The character limit of this field is 75.
- Tap Save in the top right corner of the screen to add the outside employee to the Ground Disturbance Plan

5.Add Employee Signature |
|
Each employee added to the Ground Disturbance Plan must provide an electronic signature to indicate that they have reviewed checklist and report details.
Once on the Hazard Assessment you would like to Edit
Steps
- Tap the Employees icon at the bottom of the screen to open the Employees screen.
- Scroll the list of employees until the desired employee is displayed on the screen.
- Tap the desired employee to select them and open the Edit Employee screen
- Have the selected employee sign in the white space beneath the Save New Signature Here label.
- Tap Save in the top right corner of the screen to update the Saved Signature field.
The saved signature will appear below the signature entry screen.

6.Delete Employee |
|
Once on the Ground Disturbance Plan you would like to Edit

- Tap the Employees icon at the bottom of the screen to open the Employees screen.
- Scroll the list of employees until the desired employee is displayed on the screen.
- Swipe from the right edge to the left to bring up the delete button for the employee.
- Tap the Delete button. The employee will be deleted.

7.Look up Checklist |
|
Once on the third tab, the checklist tab of the Ground Disturbance Plan view

- Scroll the list of checklist detail until the desired checklist detail is displayed on the screen.
The Category Description in black text,
the check flag in black text

the comments in blue text
- Tap the desired checklist detail to select it.
The Screen will load with the edit checklist task screen

8.Edit Checklist Detail |

Once on the Checklist details you would like to Edit
The Checklist detail is displayed in black text on the top of the screen.
Steps
- Checked Flag: The Checked field should be set to to the value the best answers the checklist details questions.
- Tap A Value on the NA|No|Yes selector to indicate the checklist detail answer.
- Deficiency/Additional Comment: Enter the deficiency/additional comments of the checklist detail. The character limit of this field is 250 characters.
- Tap Save in the top right corner of the screen to save the checklist detail to the Ground Disturbance Plan.

14.Submit Ground Disturbance Plan |
|
Once the Ground Disturbance Plan details have been entered, the employees added, the checklist has been reviewed and edited to
reflect the work to be preformed, the Ground Disturbance Plan should be submitted.
Once on the Ground Disturbance Plan you would like to Edit
Steps
- Tap on the first tab, the details view.
- Tap the Submit Ground Disturbance Plan button.
Once a ground disturbance plan has been submitted a email will be sent to the employee set up in safetynet to receive ground disturbance plan updates,
and all field staff included on the ground disturbance plan.

15.Close Out Ground Disturbance Plan |
|
Once the Ground Disturbance Plan details have been entered, the employees added, the list of tasks/ task hazards and plans for elimination edited to
reflect the work to be preformed and the work for the given day is completed the Ground Disturbance Plan should be closed out.
Once on the Ground Disturbance Plan you would like to Edit
Steps
- Tap on the first tab, the details view.
- Tap the Close Out Ground Disturbance Plan button.
Once a ground disturbance plan has been closed out a email will be sent to the employee set up in Safetynet to receive ground disturbance plan updates,
and all field staff included on the ground disturbance plan.

16.Delete Ground Disturbance Plans |

Once in the Ground Disturbance Plan section

17.View Closed Out Ground Disturbance Plan |
|
After Ground Disturbance Plans have been closed out, they will be available to look at through the History view on the iPhone Application
Once on the Ground Disturbance Plan section

- Tap the third tab on the menu, the History tab of the main menu view. This loads with a list of the closed out Ground
Disturbance Plans listing the the date, job site name.
To Search Ground Disturbance Plans: Pull down on the list view, the search is defaulted to search by date enter the date in following
format YYYY-MM-DD. The other option for the Ground Disturbance Plan search by job site name. Enter your search
criteria and click the Search button.
- Scroll the list of Ground Disturbance Plans until the desired Ground Disturbance Plan is displayed on the screen.
- Tap on the Ground Disturbance Plan you would like to view. This loads the first tab, the Ground Disturbance Plan details tab of the History view.
It loads the following details including report start date, report end date, job site information, first call information, work description,
exact location on site, equipment required, and the permit required.
- Tap the second tab, the Ground Disturbance Plan Employee’s tab of the History view. This loads with the employee’s names and their signatures
of the employees assigned to the Ground Disturbance Plan.
- Tap the third tab, the Checklist tab of the History view. This loads the checklist tasks that were reviewed during the Ground Disturbance Plan,
listing the checklist category, the task name, the checked flag and comments.
- Tap the fourth tab, the Images tab of the History view. This loads with a list of the images saved. These images can be viewed by clicking on them

18.Update Ground Disturbance Plan |
|
As other field staff create hazard assessments and include other field staff on their hazard assessment staff will
have to update their phones in order to have a copy of their updated hazard assessments on their phone.
Steps
- From the Menu screen, tap the Updates button.
- Scroll the list of sections until you find the Hazard Assessment button.
- Tap on the Hazard Assessment button.
