Fire Extinguisher Inspection

The fire extinguisher inspection section allows a user to create and record a fire extinguisher inspection. Fire extinguisher inspections can be created from scratch or from a company fire extinguisher inspection. Job Sites can be setup to require employees to complete fire extinguisher inspections.

Since each job site is different, safetynet allows a field staff to setup a specific fire extinguisher inspection for each job site. Each Fire Extinguisher Inspection for a job site is set up with a number of sections; basic information, then fire extinguisher details.

Once a fire extinguisher inspection is submitted:

  1. An email can be sent to the person in charge of the fire extinguisher inspections. (For more information about email alerts check the email alerts section of the manual)
  2. Tasks that are marked as requiring attention are added to a maintenance report, once the inspection is submitted.
  3. R & T Electric Pro Statistics are updated for number of fire extinguisher inspections completed for companies, customers, and jobsites.

Maintenance Report Creation

Maintenance Reports are created for tasks that require attention, once a fire extinguisher inspection is submitted to R & T Electric Pro. The following reports also create maintenance reports when submitted:

  1. Vehicle Inspections
  2. Personal Protective Equipment Inspections
  3. Equipment Inspections
  4. First Aid Kit Inspections
  5. Fire Extinguisher Inspections

Configuring how often Fire Extinguisher Inspections are to Occur

How often fire extinguisher inspections must occur is a function of your companies policy regarding fire extinguisher inspections. To configure R & T Electric Pro for how often fire extinguisher inspections for job sites should occur can be configured in the company safety settings.

Management, Office Staff and Safety Officers can edit how often fire extinguisher inspections should occur in the Company section when they edit the Company Safety settings. For more information about configuring your company safety settings in this manual click here to view the company section.

Configuring Jobsite Fire Extinguisher Inspection requirement

Job Sites come in all shapes and sizes especially in the service business, it just might not be practical for field staff to complete fire extinguisher inspection for every job site they visit. R & T Electric Pro allows clients to customize their system to their business situation. To this end R & T Electric Pro allows management, safety officers and office staff to configure Job Sites to require or not to require fire extinguisher inspections. Creating Company Fire Extinguisher Inspection for Jobsites

The Company Fire Extinguisher Inspections section allows companies to develop the fire extinguisher inspections documents, without having to carry out a fire extinguisher inspection. 1.Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection From Company Job Site Fire Extinguisher Inspection
Steps
  1. From the Main Menu screen, tap the On Inspection button.
  2. Then tap on the Fire Extinguisher Inspection button.
  3. This opens the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection From Company Fire Extinguisher Inspection choose screen.
  4. Tap the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection for Job Site button.
  5. Date: The date field allow field staff to choose the date the fire extinguisher inspection occurs.
    1. Tap the Date field to open the Choose Date screen.
    2. Scroll the date wheel on the far left of the screen until the desired date is highlighted.
    3. Return to the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection screen by either tapping Save in the top right corner to select the highlighted date or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Date: field unchanged.
  6. Tap the Company Fire Extinguisher Inspection field to open the Choose Company Fire Extinguisher Inspection screen.

    7. Job Site Names are listed in descending order job site name.

    Note: Company Fire Extinguisher Inspections by nature will be updated and added to the list all the time, so it may be necessary to update the list click here.

    To Search Job Sites: Pull down on the list view, the search is defaulted to search by job site name. The other option for the Job Site search are by customer. Enter your search criteria and click the Search button.

    1. Scroll the list of job sites until the desired job site is displayed on the screen.
    2. Tap the desired job site to select it or tap Back in the top left corner to leave the Company Fire Extinguisher Inspection field unchanged and return to the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection screen.
    3. Return to the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection screen by either tapping the appropriate job site or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Fire Extinguisher Inspection field unchanged.
  7. Tap the + icon in the top right corner to add the Fire Extinguisher Inspection.
    • A pop-up message that reads Fire Extinguisher Inspection Added indicates that the Fire Extinguisher Inspection is ready to have details to be entered and fire extinguisher locations to be inspected.

2.Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection From Company Vehicle Fire Extinguisher Inspection
Steps
  1. From the Main Menu screen, tap the Inspection button.
  2. Then tap on the Fire Extinguisher Inspection button.
  3. This opens Fire Extinguisher Inspection screen, which gives the user a explanation of fire extinguisher inspections. Tap on the Next button to open the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection entry screen.
  4. This opens the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection From Company Fire Extinguisher Inspection choose screen.
  5. Tap the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection for Vehicle button.
  6. Date: The date field allow field staff to choose the date the fire extinguisher inspection occurs.
    1. Tap the Date field to open the Choose Date screen.
    2. Scroll the date wheel on the far left of the screen until the desired date is highlighted.

    3. Tapping the Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Fire Extinguisher Inspection field unchanged.
  8. Tap the + icon in the top right corner to add the Fire Extinguisher Inspection.
    • A pop-up message that reads Fire Extinguisher Inspection Added indicates that the Fire Extinguisher Inspection is ready to have details to be entered and fire extinguisher locations to be inspected.

3.Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection for Job Site
Steps
  1. From the Main Menu screen, tap the On Inspection button.

  4. Tap the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection for Job Site button.

  6. Tap the Job Site field to open the Choose Job Site screen.

4.Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection for Vehicle
Steps
  1. From the Main Menu screen, tap the Inspection button.
  2. Then tap on the Fire Extinguisher Inspection button.
  3. This opens Fire Extinguisher Inspection screen, which gives the user a explanation of fire extinguisher inspections. Tap on the Next button to open the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection entry screen.
  4. Then tap the new tab on the top of the screen, this opens the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection From Job site or Vehicle choose screen.
  5. Tap the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection for Vehicle button.
  6. Date: The date field allow field staff to choose the date the fire extinguisher inspection occurs.
    1. Tap the Date field to open the Choose Date screen.
    2. Scroll the date wheel on the far left of the screen until the desired date is highlighted.
    3. Return to the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection screen by either tapping Save in the top right corner to select the highlighted date or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Date: field unchanged.
  7. Tap the Vehicle field to open the Choose Vehicle screen.

    8. >Vehicle are listed in descending order with the vehicle description.

    To Search Vehicles: Pull down on the list view, the search is defaulted to search by vehicle code. The other options for the Vehicle search are by description and license plate. Enter your search criteria and click the Search button.

    1. Scroll the list of vehicle until the desired vehicle is displayed on the screen.
    2. Tap the desired Vehicle to select it or tap Back in the top left corner to leave the Company Fire Extinguisher Inspection field unchanged and return to the Add Fire Extinguisher Inspection screen.
    3. Tapping the Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Fire Extinguisher Inspection field unchanged.
  8. Tap the + icon in the top right corner to add the Fire Extinguisher Inspection.
    • A pop-up message that reads Fire Extinguisher Inspection Added indicates that the Fire Extinguisher Inspection is ready to have details to be entered and fire extinguisher locations to be inspected.

5.Look Up Open Fire Extinguisher Inspection

Once in the Fire Extinguisher Inspection section

Steps
  1. Tap the third tab on the menu, the Fire Extinguisher Inspection view.

    2. To Search Fire Extinguisher Inspections: Pull down on the list view, the search is defaulted to search by date enter the date in following format YYYY-MM-DD. The other option for the Fire Extinguisher Inspection search inspected by employee last name. Enter your search criteria and click the Search button.

  2. Scroll the list of Fire Extinguisher Inspections until the desired Fire Extinguisher Inspection is displayed on the screen. Listing the fire extinguisher inspection date in blue text, the job site in black text.
  3. Tap on the Fire Extinguisher Inspection you would like to view. This loads the fire extinguisher inspection edit screen.

6.Edit Fire Extinguisher Inspection Details

The first step in completing a Fire Extinguisher Inspection is completing the details of the fire extinguisher inspection the date, and field staff employee whom conducted the fire extinguisher inspection.

Once on the Fire Extinguisher Inspection you would like to Edit, on the details tab.

  1. Date: The date field allow field staff to choose the date and time the fire extinguisher inspection occurs.
    1. Tap the Date field to open the Choose Date screen.
    2. Scroll the date wheel on the far left of the screen until the desired date is highlighted.
    3. Return to the Edit Fire Extinguisher Inspection screen by either tapping Save in the top right corner to select the highlighted date or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Date: field unchanged.
  2. Tap the Conducted By field to open the Choose Conducted By screen.

    3. Employees are listed in descending order.

    To Search Employees: Pull down on the list view, the search is defaulted to search by last name. The other option for the Employee search is by first name. Enter your search criteria and click the Search button.

    1. Scroll the list of employees until the desired employee is displayed on the screen.
    2. Tap the desired employee to select it or tap Back in the top left corner to leave the Employee field unchanged and return to the Edit Fire Extinguisher Inspection screen.
    3. Return to the Edit Fire Extinguisher Inspection screen by either tapping the appropriate vehicle or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the employee field unchanged.
  3. Tap Save in the top right corner to save any changes to the Fire Extinguisher Inspection Details.
    • A pop-up message that reads Fire Extinguisher Inspection Details have been Saved indicates that the fire extinguisher inspection details have been saved.

7.Add Employee Signature

Each employee added to the Fire Extinguisher Inspection must provide an electronic signature to indicate that they have been made aware of fire extinguisher inspection.

Once on the Fire Extinguisher Inspection you would like to Edit

Steps
  1. Tap the first tab, the details tab.
  2. Tap the employee signature button.
  3. Sign in the white space beneath the Save New Signature Here label.
  4. Tap Save in the top right corner of the screen to update the Saved Signature field.

    5. The saved signature will appear below the signature entry screen.

8.Add Fire Extinguisher Location

The Fire Extinguisher Location section of the Fire Extinguisher Inspection, allows users to add fire extinguisher locations for a job site.R & T Electric Pro includes information about the location and type of fire extinguisher to make it easier for future inspections, adding this information will allow field staff to know where all fire extinguishers are located for a job site.

Once on the Fire Extinguisher Inspection you would like to view

  1. Tap on the second tab, the Fire Extinguisher icon at the bottom of the screen to open the Fire Extinguisher Location screen. The screen loads opens with a list of fire extinguisher locations, with the location, and fire extinguisher description in blue text.
  2. Tap the Add button on the top right corner, this loads the add fire extinguisher location screen.
    3. Fields
  3. Location Description: The location description field allows field staff to enter a description of where the fire extinguisher is located. The Character limit of the field is 250.
  4. Fire Extinguisher Description: The fire extinguisher description field allows field staff to enter a description of the fire extinguisher. The Character limit of the field is 250.
  5. Extinguisher Size: The extinguisher size field allows field staff to enter the size of the fire extinguisher. The field is a numeric value.
  6. Extinguisher Type: The extinguisher type field allows field staff to select the type of fire extinguisher is located.
    1. Tap the Extinguisher Type: field to open the Fire Extinguisher Type screen.

      2. Fire Extinguisher Types are in descending in the order.

    2. Tap the desired fire extinguisher type to select it or tap Back in the top left corner to leave the fire extinguisher type field unchanged and return to the Add Fire Extinguisher Location screen.
    3. Return to the Add Fire Extinguisher Location screen by either tapping Save in the top right corner to select the highlighted date or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Fire Extinguisher Type field unchanged.
  7. Recharged Date: The recharge date field allow field staff to choose the date fire extinguisher was last recharged.
    1. Tap the Date field to open the Choose Date screen.
    2. Scroll the date wheel on the far left of the screen until the desired date is highlighted.
    3. Return to the Edit Fire Extinguisher Inspection screen by either tapping Save in the top right corner to select the highlighted date or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Date: field unchanged.
    4. Has Pin: The Has Pin field is a prompt for field staff to check to ensure the fire extinguisher has its pin still properly inserted.
      1. Tap Yes on the Yes|No segmented controller to indicate that the pin is properly inserted in the fire extinguisher.
    5. Checked: The Checked field allows users to mark that they have checked the fire extinguisher location and either it is satisfactory (Sat.) or it requires attention (Req.)
      1. Tap Sat. on the Not|Sat.|Req. segmented controller to indicate the checked status of the fire extinguisher location.
    6. Deficiency / Additional Comments: The deficiency and additional comments field allows field staff to enter a description of the issues found for the fire extinguisher location. The Character limit of the field is 250.
    7. Tap the Add button on the top right corner, to add the a fire extinguisher location.

9.Look Up Fire Extinguisher Location

Once on the Fire Extinguisher Inspection you would like to view

  1. Tap on the second tab, the Fire Extinguisher Inspection icon at the bottom of the screen to open the Fire Extinguisher Location screen. The screen loads opens with a list of fire extinguisher locations with the location and description in blue text and comments in red text.
  2. Scroll the list of Fire Extinguisher Locations until the desired location is displayed on the screen.
  3. Tap on the desired location. This loads the edit Fire Extinguisher Location screen.

10.Edit Fire Extinguisher Location

Once on the edit Fire Extinguisher Location screen

Fields
  1. Location Description: The location description field allows field staff to enter a description of where the fire extinguisher is located. The Character limit of the field is 250.
  2. Fire Extinguisher Description: The fire extinguisher description field allows field staff to enter a description of the fire extinguisher. The Character limit of the field is 250.
  3. Extinguisher Size: The extinguisher size field allows field staff to enter the size of the fire extinguisher. The field is a numeric value.
  4. Extinguisher Type: The extinguisher type field allows field staff to select the type of fire extinguisher is located.
    1. Tap the Extinguisher Type: field to open the Fire Extinguisher Type screen.

      2. Fire Extinguisher Types are in descending in the order.

    2. Tap the desired fire extinguisher type to select it or tap Back in the top left corner to leave the fire extinguisher type field unchanged and return to the Edit Fire Extinguisher Location screen.
    3. Return to the Edit Fire Extinguisher Location screen by either tapping Save in the top right corner to select the highlighted date or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Fire Extinguisher Type field unchanged.
  5. Recharged Date: The recharge date field allow field staff to choose the date fire extinguisher was last recharged.
    1. Tap the Date field to open the Choose Date screen.
    2. Scroll the date wheel on the far left of the screen until the desired date is highlighted.
    3. Return to the Edit Fire Extinguisher Inspection screen by either tapping Save in the top right corner to select the highlighted date or tapping Cancel in the top left corner to leave the Date: field unchanged.

11.Delete Fire Extinguisher Location

Once on the Fire Extinguisher Inspection you would like to view

  1. Tap on the second tab, the Fire Extinguisher Inspection icon at the bottom of the screen to open the Fire Extinguisher Location screen. The screen loads opens with a list of fire extinguisher locations with the location and description in blue text and comments in red text.
  2. Scroll the list of Fire Extinguisher Locations until the desired location is displayed on the screen.
  3. Swipe from the right edge to the left to bring up the delete button for the fire extinguisher location.
  4. Tap the Delete button. The fire extinguisher location will be deleted.

12.Submit Fire Extinguisher Inspection

Once on the Fire Extinguisher Inspection you would like to Submit, all the fire extinguisher locations have been added and inspected and the inspection has been signed off on.

  1. Tap the Submit Fire Extinguisher Inspection button.

13.Delete Fire Extinguisher Inspection

Once in the Fire Extinguisher Inspection section

Steps
  1. Tap the second tab on the menu, the Fire Extinguisher Inspection view.

    2. To Search Fire Extinguisher Inspections: Pull down on the list view, the search is defaulted to search by date enter the date in following format YYYY-MM-DD. The other option for the Fire Extinguisher Inspection search inspected by employee last name. Enter your search criteria and click the Search button.

  2. Scroll the list of Fire Extinguisher Inspections until the desired Fire Extinguisher is displayed on the screen. Listing the fire extinguisher date in blue text, the job site in black text.
  3. Swipe from the right edge to the left to bring up the delete button for the fire extinguisher inspection.
  4. Tap the Delete button. The fire extinguisher inspection will be deleted.

14.View Closed Fire Extinguisher Inspection

After Fire Extinguisher Inspections have been closed out, they will be available to look at through the History view on the iPhone Application.

Once on the Fire Extinguisher Inspection section

Steps
  1. Tap the third tab on the menu, the History tab of the main menu view. This loads with a list of the closed out Fire Extinguisher Inspections listing the fire extinguisher inspection date in blue text, job site name in black text.

    2. To Search Fire Extinguisher Inspections: Pull down on the list view, the search is defaulted to search by date enter the date in following format YYYY-MM-DD. The other option for the Fire Extinguisher Inspection search inspected by employee last name. Enter your search criteria and click the Search button.

  2. Scroll the list of Fire Extinguisher Inspections until the desired Fire Extinguisher Inspection is displayed on the screen.
  3. Tap on the Fire Extinguisher Inspection you would like to view. This loads the first tab, the fire extinguisher inspection details, which loads with the fire extinguisher inspection date, job site name, and the employee whom conducted the fire extinguisher inspection at the top.
  4. Tap the second tab, the Fire Extinguisher Inspection Location lists the fire extinguisher locations on the fire extinguisher inspection.
  5. Tap the Location to view the details of that location.

15.Update Fire Extinguisher Inspections

As other field staff and employee's perform fire extinguisher inspections the library of company fire extinguisher inspections for field staff to use will grow. Also as field staff perform fire extinguisher inspections with other staff there will be a need for field staff to update their IPhone application.

  1. From the Menu screen, tap the Updates button.
  2. Scroll the list of sections until you find the Fire Extinguisher Inspection button.
  3. Tap on the Fire Extinguisher Inspection button.
