Respirator Fit Test

The respirator fit test section allows a user to input the results of a employees respirator fit test. A respirator fit test is different from a ppe inspection, in that staff look at the fit of the respirator and factors presented by the respirator wearer, The respirator fit test can be setup to be done on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. The respirator fit test is set up in a number of sections; basic information, the conditions, and fit checks.

SafetyNets Smartphone application allows field staff to complete respirator fit tests in the field and submit them to the system. In the Smartphone version of the respirator fit test, field staff can include the conditions, and fit checks. Once a vehicle inspection is submitted:

  1. An email can be sent to the person in charge of the safety. (For more information about email alerts check the email alerts section of the manual)
  2. Safety Net Statistics are updated for number of respirator fit tests completed for companies and employees.

Configuring Safety Net Respirator Fit Test lists

On a Respirator Fit Test there are 2 sections of lists that companies must maintain. They are Fit Test Checks and Fit Test Conditions. These two sections make up the majority of the Respirator Fit Test. Companies can choose tasks from the list of Safety Net’s default respirator fit test tasks or add their own tasks to tailor their fit tests to their companies needs.

Setting up how often respirator fit tests should occur

How often respirator fit tests must occur is a function of your companies policy regarding respirator fit tests. To configure Safety Net for how often respirator fit test should occur can be configured in the company safety settings.

Management, Office Staff and Safety Officers can edit how often respirator fit tests should occur in the Company section when they edit the Company Safety settings.

The respirator fit test section is only available to users that have the respirator fit test section turned on for their users group. To change users access to respirator fit tests, management and office staff can change access in Application Section to view the information about the Application Section Click Here

1.Search Respirator Fit Tests

Respirator Fit Tests can be searched by a combination of the company inspected by employee; company employees and or submission the reports were created in. Users can narrow search results by choosing any combination of the three search criteria.

All search results can also be sorted by clicking on the results headings Report Date, Inspected By, Employee and Submission Status. Clicking on the same heading can do switching the results order from ascending to descending.

2.Delete a Respirator Fit Test

Deleting respirator fit tests may have to be done if the report is corrupted or if the respirator fit test was added to the system incorrectly. Only respirator fit tests that have not been reviewed by management can be deleted.

To delete a respirator fit test click the “Delete” link of the respirator fit test you want to delete.

3.Add Respirator Fit Test

To add a Respirator Fit Test, click on the 'Add Respirator Fit Test' link.

On the next screen, select:

Report Date: The report date is the day the respirator fit test was carried out. The format of this field is YYYY-MM-DD.

Employee: By selecting a employee from the employee select box users can choose whom the respirator fit test is being done on.

Then click the 'Add Respirator Fit Test' button. The edit respirator fit test screen will load. From here, proceed to edit as per the instructions below.

4.Look up a Respirator Fit Test

To get to the edit screen of a respirator fit test, click on the date of the respirator fit test that you would like to edit.

To view an html view of the respirator fit test report click on the $Html view$ link of the appropriate respirator fit test report.

To view a printable document file (PDF) view of the respirator fit test report click on the $PDF view$ link of the appropriate respirator fit test report.

5.Edit Respirator Fit Test details

In the edit respirator fit test details section the following fields can be edited:

Fields

Report Date: The report date is the day the respirator fit test was carried out. The format of this field is YYYY-MM-DD.

Inspected By: By selecting a employee from the inspected by select box users can change whom inspected the vehicle.

Employee: By selecting a employee from the employee select box users can choose whom the respirator fit test is being done on.

Employee Description: The Employee Description field allows field staff to enter any description of the employee having the fit test completed for them. The character limit of the field is 150pli>

Respirator Selected: The Respirator Select field allows field staff to enter a description of the respirator selected to be used having the fit test completed. The character limit of the field is 100.

Manufacturer: The Manufacturer field allows field staff to enter the manufacturer of the respirator having the fit test completed. The character limit of the field is 100.

Model: The Model field allows field staff to enter the model of the respirator having the fit test completed. The character limit of the field is 100pli>

Size: The Size field allows field staff to enter the size of the respirator having the fit test completed. The character limit of the field is 25pli>

Condition Comments: The Condition comments field allows field staff to enter comments about the conditions found on the fit test completed. The character limit of the field is 500.

Fit Check Comments: The Employee Description field allows field staff to enter comments about the fit checks found on the fit test completed. The character limit of the field is 500.

Click the 'Save Respirator Fit Test' button to ensure that any information changed is saved in the system.

6.Edit Respirator Fit Test Conditions

To edit the fit test condition tasks, click on the 'Load Edit Fit Test Conditions' button. This will load all of the fit test condition tasks for the respirator fit test. For up to 15 fit test condition tasks the task description will be displayed. The following fields can be changed for each task:

Checked Status: Each task can be marks as Not Checked or Checked, change the value by selecting from the select box.

Once all fit test condition tasks information has been entered, click on the 'Save Fit Test Conditions' button to ensure that any information changed is saved in the system.

7.Edit Respirator Fit Test Checks

To edit the fit test check tasks, click on the 'Load Edit Fit Test Checks' button. This will load all of the fit test check tasks for the respirator fit test. For up to 15 fit test check tasks the task description will be displayed. The following fields can be changed for each task:

Checked Status: Each task can be marks as Not Done, Pass or Fail, change the value by selecting from the select box.

Once all fit test check tasks information has been entered, click on the 'Save Fit Test Checks' button to ensure that any information changed is saved in the system.

8.Submitting Respirator Fit Test

Once a respirator fit test has been completed, it must be submitted for review by management. To do this, click on the 'Submit Respirator Fit Test' button. An email will be sent to the employee in charge of safety if the respirator fit test email alert has been set up for the company in Safety Net.

9.Reviewing Respirator Fit Test

Once a respirator fit test has been submitted management or a supervisor should review and sign off that respirator fit tests have been completed properly and that issue found can be brought to the attention of management of

  1. The respirator fit test were completed properly.
  2. The issues found have been accounted for and dealt with.

Once a respirator fit test has been submitted for review by management. To do this, click on the 'Review Respirator Fit Test' button.
